The biggest cause of Kia push-button start problems is a key fob with a weak or dead battery. This is very common because most car owners rarely remember to switch the batteries of their key fobs. Some car owners don’t even know that the key fob has got a battery inside. The key fob needs to be active and within the vehicle for the car tosolution to rear catch not opening. Problem is corrosion in switch wiring plug. Remove push button housing by prizing it out from the short sided ends. Lugs holding it in are at those ends. Pull small 2 pin plug out of housing and use electronic circuit board cleaner to spray on both sides of plug.
If only programming one remote, then press and hold the lock button on the remote for 3 seconds and release. If done properly the lights on the dash will go off. 8 Turn the vehicle off, after the dash lights go out. 9 Remove the wire from the battery and diagnostic terminal. Test the remotes.
